N’Golo Kante has been a surprise absence from the Chelsea first team recently, and so it was comforting to see him restored to the side today.
He was excellent against Southampton, certainly the dominant player in Blue on the defensive side.
Caughtoffside had his full stats from the game, and they made for pleasant reading. He recovered the ball an astonishing 13 times, most of them coming in a dominant first half where every Saints attack seemed to finish with the ball at his feet.
Unfortunately, the attacking parts of the team weren’t able to translate those turnovers into goals.

Whether he starts against Atletico in midweek we’re not sure, but it can’t be long before he finds a way into Thomas Tuchel’s plans as a starter every week – especially if he keeps performing like this.
