Billy Gilmour is in the Chelsea team, and we can all relax a bit.
He’d looked on the verge of breaking into the first team proper under Frank Lampard, after impressing against Luton in the previous round of this competition.
But Thomas Tuchel’s arrival sent him to the back of the queue, and he’s not had a sniff until now.
Fans on social media rejoiced to see the young Scot in action again. He’s a real talent, and he’s already dominated in the starts he’s had in this competition. “Man of the match, calling it now,” one Blues fan wrote confidently. It will certainly be exciting to see him play in a double pivot with N’Golo Kante.
Let’s pray he can make the most of this one and show the new gaffer just what he’s made of. Chances are going to be few and far between for him to play this season.
