Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Kepa will start tomorrow’s game with Barnsley.
The German manager has yet to see the goalie in action in the games he’s been in charge, but that will change tomorrow. Among what’s likely to be host of changes for the 5th Round FA Cup tie, Kepa will step in for Edouard Mendy, who has so far continued as the Blues’ number one.
Been told 18-year-old midfielder Lewis Bate has travelled with the #CFC squad for their #FACup match at Barnsley tomorrow night. Good chance he will be on the bench.

Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising, given the fee we paid, that this is going to be the third run at winning a spot in the first team. Maurizio Sarri used him consistently, Frank Lampard tried him on two occasions and was let down – now it’s Tuchel’s turn to test whether the Basque truly was the worst signing in Premier League history or not.
It’s only Barnsley, and it’s not clear what he would have to do to actually establish himself. Mendy would have to drop off serious before we really considered a change feasible.
