“We are going to win” – Atletico captain defiant and confident of turning Chelsea loss around

Chelsea beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of their round 16 Champions League match on Tuesday night, but the Spanish sides captain says they WILL win the second leg.

Well, talk about confidence and defiance, this is a very bold statement from the club captain and midfielder Koke, as reported by Football London today.

Chelsea are in for Erling Haaland this summer, find out more here.

Chelsea absolutely bossed the match and controlled possession, with Atletico rarely even looking a like keeping hold of the ball let alone being a threat.

However, we know that they are a much tougher team than this and can play much better, so the tie is still completely open and Chelsea must be at their very best to go through.

Atletico were stubborn to break down, but being a goal down we will surely see a different setup from them as they will need to hunt for the goals to go through.

Koke though, is clear that they will bounce back.

He said:

“It was a play that had no danger and we have conceded a great goal. In this competition, you have to take the maximum care of details.

“We are still in the same position, we are top in the league, in the Champions League Round of 16 and we are going to win there.”

“It’s difficult but we usually bounce back and we are going to. We are the same ones that came into the eight game winning streak, competing well.

“You cannot win all the games and we leave a bad week, that’s the reality, but we have to compete, to continue reaching. Atletico always bounces back.”
