Thomas Tuchel has named his third team as Chelsea manager, and it’s the most interesting, for several reasons.
Most importantly, the opposition. Tottenham are a class above Burnley and Wolves in reality, and Tuchel will have picked what he considers his strongest team.
His first team was picked within a day of arriving at the club, and the second came so soon after that that the minutes each player was accumulating was a major factor.
Reaction on social media was mixed, but most people were happy to see the tweaks the new boss had made to the team that won at the weekend, and we’re all excited to see how the team gets on in this potentially feisty derby game.
One thing that everyone was particularly keen on was the selection of Callum Hudson-Odoi from the start once again. One fan pointed out that Billy Gilmour (who doesn’t make the squad) should have gone out on loan. It’s hard to disagree with that too.
You can see a selection of the reaction in the posts embedded here:
Pulisic is probably the attacker least suited to playing a 10 in this system imo. Expect him to switch between wing-back and striker from the bench for it depending on what's needed on the pitch. #CFC #TOTCHE

Thomas Tuchel explains his selection:
“We change from game to game with what suits us best. Today is Reece’s turn to show up, and I hope he can.”

That's the way. Bring in that callum Hudson Odoi guy, dude is a natural winger, I believe Tuchel know what he's doing.. For me self, I'd play ziyech on the right and Odoi on the left.

This is one ballsy team. Playing players in merit though, good precedent setting.

But no really Billy Gilmour should have gone on loan #CFC #TOTCHE

No Zouma or Havertz as Tuchel intimated yesterday.

By my count, Lampard played a back three on 14 occasions (13 times last season, once this season) and Tuchel twice so far. This is only Hudson-Odoi's second start in one of the front three roles. Last one was the Southampton 2-0 home defeat.
