“The future of England” – These Chelsea fans can’t get enough of surging Mason Mount

Mason Mount was the man who got on the end of Timo Werner’s cutback to give his team the lead in this game, and it was the least he deserved after a first half where he looked the most likely player on the pitch to make something happen.

While most of his teammates were static and slow in their passing, Mason is always looking to break lines – fans on social media praised his forward impetus, and his general form as the 22 year old looks to stack another good performance on the growing pile.

Gary Lineker called Mount – along with Phil Foden after his brilliant performance earlier – “the future of England,” and that’s exactly what it’s looking like. He’s scoring, defending, captaining. This season has been another big step forward, despite the circumstances.
