Why Frank Lampard is unlikely to accept a new job before this summer

Not everyone thinks Frank Lampard did a great job at Chelsea, but he did well enough to be linked with other managerial roles from the moment he was available.

Bournemouth have recently got rid of their coach, and the papers initially linked Lampard with that role. But today’s copy of the Sun explains why he might not be taking that job.

The former Blues boss’ contract at Stamford Bridge runs until this summer, but he won’t be due any of that remaining cash if he takes another job in the interim.

So while the famously focused and driven coach might be tempted to get right back into the action, he also now has a great motivation to wait until the summer.

Better options might become available then, but more importantly he’ll collect around £2m from Chelsea in that period. That’s enough motivation for anyone to turn down a role at Bournemouth.
