Former Chelsea man has given up on Werner and wants a new Drogba

We were impressed by Timo Werner this weekend. Despite not having scored in what feels like an age, he looked happy and confident, and he set up both our goals as we squeaked past Sheffield United.

The fact he’s still contributing, and still doesn’t look totally broken, gives us hope he can still come good. Some people aren’t as convinced.

In an exclusive interview with CaughtOffside, former Chelsea player Alan Hudson revealed that he’s pretty much done with the striker, after just 6 months at the club.

““It is weird that Werner started so impressively and has lost his way, for he looked the answer. It happens,” Hudson explained.

“Had he continued in that form we wouldn’t be talking of this, but Chelsea need a number 9 like Tammy Abraham – only a far better model; a throwback to Didier Drogba and Peter Osgood in my day.”

Even worse, he then went on to compare Werner to Fernando Torres, something the rest of us are studiously avoiding – yet.

Of course we’d all like another Drogba or Osgood, but those are generational players, and you can’t conjure them out of thin air. For now, we’re just going to have to rely on Thomas Tuchel getting the best out of Timo.
