Fikayo Tomori says “it’s a lot more tactical” and “more thinking” at AC Milan

Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori made the switch from the English Premier League to the Italian Serie A in January and has not looked back since.

The centre back describes it as ‘a dream come true’ in his latest interview with Sky Sports, and has been explaining how different it has been to his experiences in England so far.

Chelsea have colossal Inter Milan defender ‘high’ on their list of summer targets, read more here.

“I definitely feel a part of it and feel it. I’m trying to make the most of the experience, trying to better myself, learn the language, understand the language,” Tomori told Sky Sports News.

“Here it’s a lot more tactical, there’s a lot more thinking going on and a lot more positional awareness.

“There’s a lot more instances when you’re 1 v 1 and you have to be aware of where the ball is, where you have to be standing at a specific moment in relation to the ball. That kinda stuff is different and it takes time to get used to.”
Whether this is a league thing or specifically relates to Chelsea and AC Milan tactics remains to be seen, but the bottom line is that Tomori seems much happier in Italy already and has even been learning Italian.
Milan have an option to buy him this summer for around 28 million euros, and by the sounds of it Tomori will be quite keen to make the move permanent after barely featuring at all for Chelsea in recent times.
However, the ultimate decision will rest with Milan of course.
