Fairly low release clause revealed for 6ft 4in centre back on Chelsea’s list of targets

A new week brings a fresh story regarding Chelsea’s centre back pursuit.

It is fairly common knowledge now that this is an area that the Chelsea board will look to invest in this summer, even though it is unlikely that they have even sat down with Thomas Tuchel to discuss plans this early yet.

Chelsea are serious about signing Erling Haaland this summer and will ‘go all out for him’, find out more here.

However, the board will still have their targets and a list of players they are scouting, and 6ft 4in RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate is on the list according to various reports, including the latest from Sport Bild.

However, perhaps the more interesting part of this report is the revealing of his release clause. According to them, Konate has a release clause set around £39 million, which certainly isn’t expensive as far as some clauses go, especially for a 21-year old sought-after player who is also attracting interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.

We shall see if any of them use the clause that comes in this summer.
