Another day, and another centre back being linked with a potential move to Chelsea.

Ironically, an RB Leipzig player, but one that is not Dayot Upamecano.

According to the reliable Miguel Delany of The Independent, Chelsea are one of many clubs who are ‘seriously looking’ at signing Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate.

The 6ft 4in 21-year old is also wanted by Manchester United and Liverpool, says the report.

There is much talk about Chelsea’s pursuit of a new centre back this summer, something that they were looking to do before Frank Lampard was sacked, and are still planning to do so under Thomas Tuchel, as Matt Law of The Telegraph reported yesterday.

He believes that David Alaba of Bayern Munich still remains an option for Chelsea, but his wage demands will have to drop considerably.

Konate certainly fits the type of centre back being looked at – tall, physically dominant, and young but with experience.
