Alan Shearer names the one position that Tuchel needs to invest in to challenge for the title

Chelsea are climbing back up the Premier League and currently sit in 5th spot after a win over Sheffield United last night.

Thomas Tuchel is leading the charge to top four and will be pleased now with three wins in a row and no losses in four matches.

The only concern right now is again the lack of finesse and ability to finish teams off in the final third. They scored two yesterday, but again one came from the penalty spot.

Pundit Alan Shearer has spotted this as well and he believes that if Chelsea want to challenge for the title again then they will need to invest in a top striker. Whilst he believes top four is realistic for them right now, a top class striker will give them the edge needed to be back up at the top again.

The former England striker was speaking after the game, as reported by The Metro.

He said:

“He’s [Tuchel] given everyone an opportunity,’ Shearer said on BBC’s Match of the Day 2. ‘He didn’t play [Mason] Mount in the first game, he’s swapped it over with [Ben] Chilwell and [Marcos] Alonso, [Olivier] Giroud has been in there, he’s changed the system slightly. He’s given everyone the opportunity to impress him.

“I still think they are lacking that top-quality centre-forward to challenge [for the title]. ‘They’ll challenge for fourth but I think to go to the next level they’ll need a top centre forward.”

  1. Chelsea needs a top class striker and a defender on stand by for Thiago Silva . The mid field is OK but the attacking line and defence needs to be strengthened if Chelsea wants to challenge for the premier league title.
