“We’re doing the Academy proud” – Hudson-Odoi explains why it’s ‘easier’ to play with Mount and James

Chelsea have one of the best youth academies in world football, and over the last couple of seasons we have finally really seen them use it.

Thanks really to a transfer ban and the fact that Jody Morris and Frank Lampard came in and really put trust in the young players coming through.

Chelsea have colossal Inter Milan defender ‘high’ on their list of summer targets, read more here.

Thomas Tuchel has carried on that trust and made Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, and particularly Callum Hudson-Odoi a pinnacle part of his early regular team line ups, with Reece James also getting games.

You can just see when they are all out there playing close together the natural connection they have with each other to link up, almost as if they have been doing for years together since kids right?

Hudson-Odoi has been explaining the ‘good energy’ between them via the Chelsea website, and how much easier it is to play alongside these players making things happen.

He said:

“I’ve been playing with Reece and Mason for a lot of years now so I know their qualities and capabilities, and they know what I can do.

“Playing with them is easier because they know exactly what I’m able to do on the pitch, they’re able to help me and link up with me as quick as possible.

“They know what I’m capable of going forward and I know what they’re capable of doing as well so it’s good to link up with them.

“Coming through the Academy, it’s a nice feeling to know we’re doing the Academy proud.

“We want to keep going as a collective, keep trying to win as many points and get as many games as possible. It’s always nice to link up with the boys – they’re humble with good energy so it’s good to keep playing around them and I just hope it carries on for many years.”
