Mason Mount is Frank Lampard’s key man in midfield. There’s no question of that now, and no matter what happens in the rest of his career, no one can take away the fact he’s earned top spot at his boyhood club.
On Sky Sports before tonight’s game with Leicester he was the subject of much discussion, and his numbers on the season so far were compared with those of Jack Grealish, James Maddison and Phil Foden.
There will be a lot of competition for next summer’s England squad, but there’s no question that Mount is in the conversation.
