Chelsea look set to end their pursuit of Declan Rice after the sacking of Frank Lampard, according to an exclusive from Matt Law in the Telegraph today.
West Ham confident that Lampard sacking will mark the end of Chelsea's Declan Rice pursuit. The interest was always pushed by Lampard and never received much encouragement from the club #whufc #cfc https://t.co/LIzhBmQPRN

Apparently the long rumoured pursuit of Rice as a long term defensive midfield option was being driven by Lampard, and without him in place as manager, there’s less appetite to try and prise West Ham’s jewel away from them.
That will disappoint lots of fans who had really come round to the idea of Rice coming back to the club where he had his football education, although long term we would never rule it out, especially given the friendship between Rice and Mason Mount.
Law was the man who broke the Lampard news yesterday ahead of anyone, so it’s certainly worth listening to what he has to say. His story was also corroborated by Christian Falk of Bayern, giving it even more weight.
