Sky pundit names the one position that Chelsea need to invest in

Chelsea signed six new first team players over the summer who would all consider themselves regular starters. However, apparently they still need to make a signing in one more position.

Roman Abramovich fully backed Frank Lampard this summer and bought in stars such as Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Ben Chilwell.

However, if Lampard wants to keep challenging in the Premier League, he needs to make one further investment.

This is according to Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson anyway, who claims that Lampard still needs to sign another striker, because neither Olivier Giroud or Tammy Abraham will ever be top 6 goal scorers in the Premier League.

The former Arsenal midfielder is not convinced on Werner either, or his correct position in this team, and Merson believes that Chelsea now need to go out and sign a top quality goal scorer in order to compete again.

He said:

“I don’t know where Werner plays. I think Chelsea may have signed him to play as a striker, but that is not working, and if his best position is off the left, then Chelsea need a centre forward.

“No disrespect to Olivier Giroud or Tammy Abraham, but you are not going to win the Premier League with those as your front two.

“Giroud and Abraham do great on their day, but they are not going to be in the top six Premier League goalscorers this season, or any season. How many teams have won the Premier League without having a player in the top six scorers?”
