N’Golo Kante reveals his pre-match prep that gives him so much energy in games

When N’Golo Kante plays football, sometimes you have to question how many of him are actually on the pitch.

The energy he plays with makes it seem like he has two identical brothers on the pitch with him, he is literally everywhere.

Some people like Kante are naturally blessed with ridiculous stamina levels and thrive on covering every blade of grass on the pitch. Mason Mount has a similar match engine.

But is there anything that budding players striving to have the same energy levels as these Chelsea midfielders can do to help?

Well yes, according to Kante himself.

The French World Cup winner has been speaking to the Chelsea website on his pre-match ritual, and there is some solid advice in here for anyone who is looking to have a bit more energy on the pitch when match day comes around.

The key? Sleep and diet!

Kante said:

“Having a good sleep is really important so I go to bed early, especially when we have a lunchtime kick-off because then you don’t have the chance to nap to get back any sleep you miss during the night. It doesn’t happen too much in the season but it makes sleep more important and also getting energy from dinner the night before.

“I have a good meal for breakfast or the pre-match meal because that’s the best preparation to play the game. We have to eat well at dinner the night before because in the morning sometimes you are not that hungry and you have to force yourself to eat something.”

There, it’s THAT easy – now you can all go run like Kante!
