“There needs to be patience” – Carlo Ancelotti backs under pressure Frank Lampard

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti says that patience is a rare commodity in football these days, and that the Chelsea board must show it with Frank Lampard.

The former Chelsea manager has stepped up to publicly defend his former player after he has come under heavy criticism and pressure after a string of bad results.

All the debates now are whether Chelsea should stick with the man they heavily backed in the transfer market summer, or bring someone else in now to try and turn it around.

Ancelotti believes Lampard can turn it around, and has offered his public support.

As reported by Sports Illustrated, Ancelotti said:

They [Chelsea] have bought a lot of players in the summer and in this case, like at Juventus, there needs to be patience, a rare commodity in football”.

In the meantime, it looks as if the Chelsea board ARE showing patience with Lampard and his job might be safe, for now. But there will need to be a vast improvement in results and performances in the next handful of games to say the least.
