Lampard admits ‘some things are always beyond your control’ as sacking questions raised

Things are not looking good at all for Chelsea boss Frank Lampard this morning, as many Blues fans wake up with a non-alcohol related hangover.

It feels like groundhog day this Wednesday morning as we start hearing reports of another Chelsea manager potentially departing the club after a poor run of form and pressure intensifying.

Lampard and the board will hold ‘crisis talks’ today after another defeat last night against Leicester City in the Premier League.

The Chelsea boss cut a frustrated figure once again in the post-match press conference after the loss, and he naturally faced questions over his immediate future as manager at the club.

He also pointed the blame at the players saying they ‘are not playing as well as they should be,’ and unfortunately he is right. The blame should be shared, but the players were awful and gutless once again last night.

As reported by The Standard, Lampard said:

“The players know they were beaten by a better team tonight. A team we competed with until the end last season and that we are points behind.

“I wouldn’t say they’re letting me down, but there are players who are not playing as well as they should be.

“It is a fact of where we are as a club. If you look at the composition of the squad, young players or ones who were on loan or in the Championship.

“It’s asking a lot for them to become John Terry overnight. To find consistency and find that is the next level for us.”

On his future, Lampard added: “It intensified for me a while ago. Expectations at this club are high.

“Right or wrong. When we perform like that it is normal people will ask questions.

“It is not my decision. That is something that will always be there.

“Some things are always beyond your control. That I can’t answer.”
