Frank Lampard explains why Fikayo Tomori hasn’t been playing – and how close he is to AC Milan transfer

One of the mysteries of this season for Chelsea has been Fikayo Tomori. After arriving from Derby with Frank Lampard the central defender made a bright start to life in the first team last year, only to fall out of favour dramatically.

A move to AC Milan is now on the cards it seems, and in the press conference today Lampard was asked about why the defender was being allowed to leave.

In quotes picked up by Football.London, the coach explained that being the 5th choice centre back meant limited chances to play, but reminded everyone he still rates the defender.

On the transfer itself, Lampard said there was “no confirmation as it stands,” but in saying that all but told us that a deal is on the verge of happening.

In fact, our friends at SempreMilan have pointed out that his contract has been deposited with Serie A, so the transfer is actually done.
