Former Blue Andrei Shevchenko linked with Chelsea job by French sources

Chelsea are considering Andrei Shevchenko as a potential replacement for Frank Lampard, according to an exclusive report from France’s le10Sport

The Blues are having a tough time at the moment, and the fact that alternatives to the current manager are being talked about at all tells you everything you need to know.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is known to be good friends with Shevchenko, whom he brought to the club as a player back in 2006. That same personal connection that helped him them might return again, 15 years later.

Shevchenko is currently Ukraine national team manager, helping his country qualify for the Euros next summer undefeated. It seems unlikely he would leave them before that tournament, having put in all the work to get them there, but Chelsea might also be a job that’s too big to turn down.

Another interesting link is his son, Kristian, who plays for Chelsea’s youth academy, and apparently a real talent.
