Thomas Tuchel has been announced as Chelsea’s new manager, just a day after Frank Lampard’s sacking was confirmed by the club.
Former PSG manager Tuchel has clearly been lined up for some time, and the quick transition just makes the wounds of Lampard’s dismissal even more raw.
Tuchel had a good spell in France and at Borussia Dortmund before that, but the worry will be how both those jobs ended in disputes with those above him in the hierarchy. That doesn’t bode well at Chelsea.

His nationality and potential connection with big summer signings Kai Havertz and Timo Werner are clearly big factors in this appointment, counting for more than any Ligue 1 title with a dominant PSG team.
There are still conflicting reports about when he will take charge, with tomorrow night’s game against Wolves seemingly coming too soon for the governmental coronavirus regulations – unless football is allowed to continue bending the rules even further than it has already.
You are welcome to the bridge, wishing you best of luck
Tunchel is not the best option for the job, though an upgrade to Frank Lampard
