Chelsea’s most dangerous players need to step it up again

Chelsea are almost halfway through their season now, and one can start to look at the stats they’re generating and giving them some authority in telling you what’s actually going on.

According to FBRef, the players with the most “non-penalty goals and assists per ninety minutes” (quite a mouthful but the most comprehensive stat around for attacking production), Chelsea’s most dangerous player this season is Olivier Giroud, followed by Tammy Abraham, followed by Hakim Ziyech.

That’s all well and good, but even they need to step things up if Chelsea want to get out of trouble. they have 10 Premier League goals between them, and 4 assists in that competition.

In this topsy-turvy top flight, the finishing touch will make all the difference in turning one point into three, and not having at least one player reach at least 20 goals this season will be a serious hindrance in our attempts to improve on last season’s finish.
