Callum Hudson-Odoi knows his “flaws” and insists he’s working hard to change them

Callum Hudson-Odoi had a difficult season last time out, starting it injured and finding himself in a few sticky situations along the way.

It looked like this campaign might be going the same way a couple of months in. More injuries, more competition for places, and even less time playing seemed like it might spell the end for him.

But recent weeks have seen him come back into the frame, and the bad of others means he’s now a first team winger.

The Chelsea official website have some interesting quotes from the winger where he explains how he’s still working to get better:

“Nobody is a perfect player,” Callum explained.

“There are always flaws and you want to keep improving every day. I want to keep working hard and learning every day. I want to keep educating myself whether it’s at home watching clips or just learning under the manager. He knows what to do and he knows what is right for me and how to play so I want to keep learning under him and working hard.”

It’s interesting to hear him talk about the manager there. Frank Lampard has often hinted at a lack of application from CHO on the training pitch, and the winger’s answer here clearly shows how seriously he’s taken that criticism.

Maybe that’s why we’ve had the upturn in form – and maybe that will mean this season ends on a bright note for him.
