The awful stat that sums up Kepa’s Chelsea career

Kepa was really not too bad in his first year at Chelsea, and there was plenty who thought he would really step up last year and prove his quality.

Instead things went truly the other way. Since the start of last season, Kepa has been the worst goalkeeper in the Premier League, and maybe across Europe.

That’s what the “eye test” tells you, and the numbers bear that out: Opta noted on their Twitter feed that the Basque has the lowest save percentage of any Premier League keeper since the start of the 19/20 season.

Of course that’s not the only metric you can measure a keeper by – but it’s perhaps the most important. It’s hardly like his meek efforts claiming high balls or his dodgy kicking is going to make up for it.

The poor bloke clearly needs a long run of games, far far away from the English media and frustrated Chelsea fans.
