“Tammy’s been excellent” – Joe Cole defends Chelsea striker after missed chances

Another Chelsea game, another article talking about a striker missing chances.

It was Timo Werner last week, this week it is Tammy Abraham.

Chelsea are in pole position to sign David Alaba, full story HERE.

I do feel that missing chances is just part of the game, but the Spurs game was on such a knife edge and it is these types of games you win from just one single chance, and that is what makes a difference. I think this is why you have seen so much talk about Abraham’s missed chances, however harsh it might be.

But these things happen in football, even to the best players, it’s quite normal. Abraham will bounce straight back as he has done before, and you can bet your bottom dollar that he will score again very soon to make up for it.

Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole has been defending Abraham after the game, and he quite rightly says that the England international will not be the first striker to miss a few chances.

Speaking to Talksport, Cole said:

“Tammy’s been excellent.

“He offers something different to the other guys.

“Having competition for places is important. He won’t be the first striker to miss a few chances.”
