New Chelsea coach Anthony Barry having a “monumental effect” at the club already

Chelsea signed a lot of top class players this summer, ones who can do a job on the pitch in live time.

But there is perhaps one unsung hero doing work behind the scenes who is becoming just as important as any player Frank Lampard signed this summer.

That is of course new coach Anthony Barry.

He arrived from Wigan in the summer and got to work at the training ground right away, and he has been described as already having a “monumental effect” at the club in an inside a report written by Dan McCarthy on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea.

Barry met Lampard doing their coaching badges together recently and hit it off right away. He has helped Chelsea become more organised at set pieces whether it is attacking or defending them, and he has helped the unit on the whole become a lot more solid.

There is no doubt Chelsea’s signings have improved them massively, but the work on the training ground as well has made a huge difference to performances.
