Lampard refuses to confirm Olivier Giroud will start against Leeds

We’ve heard it a million times before, “it’s a good problem to have”, but there’s no doubt… it’s a problem.

Tammy Abraham has been leading the line for Chelsea well all season, getting goals and assists. He was harshly criticised in some circles for his performance against Tottenham last weekend, but even that was at worst sub-par, not disastrous.

The problem is that Olivier Giroud scored to win the game in the Champions League days before that match, and he’s gone a step further this midweek and bagged 4 in Seville.

The pressure is on for Frank Lampard to start him in his first team, and inevitably he was asked about that in his press conference today.

As always, he kept his cards to close to his chest. “I don’t thin kit’s a case of giving any player any assurances over game time,” but the question is hanging in the air.

We think Tammy will be his choice for this game anyway, given the high line Leeds play. But the criticism on hand if he plays and Chelsea don’t win, will be heavy.
