Frank Lampard backs John Terry to take up Championship job

Derby County are building quite the connection with Chelsea.

The Blues sent Mason Mount there on loan, and current manager Frank Lampard spent a year there in charge of the midfielder.

That created a platform for him to step up and join Chelsea, and we’ve been reaping the benefits ever since.

The Rams have struggled since Lampard left to come to Stamford Bridge, and they’ve now got rid of Philipp Cocu.

John Terry is among the favourites to take over at Pride Park now, and in today’s press conference ahead of the Champions League game with Sevilla, Lampard backed his old teammate to get the job, and do well in it:

After working in the Premier League as Dean Smith’s assistant for a couple of years, it feels like the time might soon come where Terry makes the jump to take over his own team.

Given how well things went for Frank in the Midlands, this will be a tempting opportunity for him.
