Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount had a great international break with England, but despite that he’s not the most popular player with some of their fans.
Frank Lampard was asked about this in his press conference ahead of the Newcastle game, and he tried to explain it by pointing out that Mount is more of a player’s player – he doesn’t have the “showreel of step-overs and flicks” that others might have. Instead, he’s just a very effective and hard-working midfielder.
Who cares if nobody else appreciates him – we certainly do.
You can see the Chelsea manager speaking in the clip embedded here:
🗣 "He has more quality passes, impressive moments in a game rather than a showreel of step-overs and flicks, maybe thats not as exciting to the modern fan."
