Reece James could get England break after red card ban

Reece James has been given a two match ban for England after his red card, received after the final whistle in the game against Denmark last month.

The right back was superb in the match, but couldn’t hold back after full time and let loose on the referee, who had made some questionable calls.

UEFA announced today that James would be banned for two games, ruling him out of the Three Lions’ matches against Belgium and Iceland next week.

The Times reports that this may call into question whether he is selected by Gareth Southgate at all for England squad this time around. Playing just the friendly against Ireland might not justify making the Chelsea man join up with the squad.

Either way, after a heavy run of games recently, Blues fans will be delighted to hear that the in-form youth product is getting a much needed couple of games off – even if it has to come in an unfortunate way.
