One Serie A team drops out of Olivier Giroud race – but another still keen on France striker

Olivier Giroud is hoping to leave Chelsea in January in order to secure his place for France at the European Championships next summer.

That’s the latest word from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, in his latest piece on The Guardian.

We could already tell this was on the cards – but we have a little more detail now.

Apparently Lazio are out of the race, but Inter and Antonio Conte remain keen.

The forward’s priority is staying in the Premier League though, and should an option become available, he’ll take it. He’s fallen behind Tammy Abraham in the pecking order once again, and overtaking him will only get more difficult as time goes on.

There are plenty of teams who might roll the dice on him, even at 34, and we can easily see a West Ham or an Everton trying to upgrade their prospects short term by bringing the target man in.
