Italian newspaper Repubblica, as cited on TuttoMercatoWeb, have Chelsea transfer news in their sights once again.
They say that Emerson Palmieri, who has been reduced to third choice left back at the club, is now a target for Napoli.
Emerson has just played for Italy in this international break, and is clearly still well-regarded in his (adopted) home country. According to this particular report, the Neapolitans are interested in taking him on loan for the rest of this season, with a permanent transfer an option in the future if all goes well.
Chelsea will likely be tempted, there’s no doubt of that. With Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso already in place, Emerson is pretty surplus to requirements and is taking up a lot of wage bill just sitting on the bench.
Letting him go and play for 6 months might make him happier and increase the chances of being able to sell him permanently, whether to Napoli or elsewhere.
