Frank Lampard hopes to have key player back in the squad for Rennes

The latest round of Premier League matches are over and the focus immediately turns to Champions League football for Chelsea.

After another good win in the league against Newcastle United on Saturday, Chelsea will look to take that momentum to France tomorrow night when they face Rennes in the Champions League Group stages.

They sit nicely in that group as well and will be looking to bring all three points back with them.

Some good early injury news already confirmed by Frank Lampard, is that Kai Havertz is in the squad for tomorrow after returning from self-isolation last week.

The Blues boss was keen on Havertz gaining his full fitness back after being out for two weeks, but he is set to get some minutes tomorrow at the very least.

This is a massive boost for the Blues, Havertz was just starting to really find his feet in a Chelsea shirt before he tested positive for Covid-19.

As reported by Goal, Lampard said:

“I hope he is available. He’s been in for two, three days training doing some individual work and he looks pretty good.

“Kai is a naturally fit boy. I hope to have him travelling with us to Rennes on Tuesday. Maybe get some minutes. I’m not sure how many because it was two-week isolation but he looks in good shape.”
