Frank Lampard puts in the call to player after impressive form

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has one of those really good ‘problems’ to have, a headache that all managers want to get.

He is inundated with top talent in his squad right now, giving him tremendous strength in depth after a very successful summer transfer window.

The ‘problem’ bit is of course trying to keep everyone happy and get them enough game time.

One player who foreseen this coming was England international Ross Barkley. He knew that his game time would be reducing even more this season after the arrival of Kai Havertz and co, and he opted to join Aston Villa on loan.

He has so far taken the opportunity with both hands, both feet, and any other limbs he can throw at it – he’s been magnificent for Villa so far this season, and Lampard has been watching closely with great interest.

According to Eurosport, Lampard has called Barkley to congratulate him on his form so far this season, and he has told him that there could still be a way back for him if the loan spell continues to go well.
