Frank Lampard confirms updated injury news for Champions League game

It feels like Chelsea just came off the pitch after a win in Newcastle a couple of hours ago, yet here we are listening to Frank Lampard giving team news in a press conference ahead of our next game – against Rennes tomorrow evening.

The Blues boss confirmed a few things that we suspected already: firstly that Kai Havertz and Thiago Silva are fit and will travel at the very least. We expect to see the former off the bench, and the latter start the game.

Then there’s Christian Pulisic. The news there isn’t as good – he’s not going to France with the team – but he’s also progressing well in recovering from his hamstring problem, and we expect him to be back in a week or so.

Lampard says “hopefully [Pulisic] will be in contention at the weekend,” but we really can’t see the American coming out of nowhere to play in such an important game after so long out. Even a feature off the bench seems a long shot at this stage.

  1. it’s very important to select a good team against such aggresive team like Rennes which was awarded with a red card at Stamfordbridge in their last champions league game against chelsea fc
