Frank Lampard admits first team player could start despite international injury

Chelsea had been doing so well with injuries in this international break until about half an hour into the Belgium game, when Ben Chilwell lay down injured and then hobbled off.

It was a back spasm it turned out, and we weren’t hopeful he would be back for the Blues this weekend – especially given it was a Saturday early kick off on the horizon.

But he was back in England training not long after, and even on the bench for the game against Iceland.

Now, Frank Lampard has been speaking to the media, and even he has admitted that the former Leicester man could make it:

Clearly he doesn’t want to give too much away, but for the time being we’re confident that despite the scare, we will see the in-form Chilwell starting for us at St James’ Park.

That could make all the difference, and we would gamble in his position.
