“Fantastic” – Chelsea’s last great creative midfielder hails Mason Mount

Mason Mount is absolutely running things out there for Chelsea in their game against Rennes.

The midfielder capped off a quite brilliant first half performance with an assist, pinging the ball over the top for Callum Hudson-Odoi to score.

But that was just the start really. He ran, tackled, passed, created and took touches to create space, carving through Rennes in their own stadium time and again.

The only thing letting him down at times were his teammates, who just weren’t on his level at times.

If there’s one man whose praise you want in that situation, it’s Cesc Fabregas. He was Chelsea’s last great all rounder in that position, and he hailed his successor on Twitter, calling him “fantastic” for his showing:

It’s not the first time he’s appreciated the academy star, and we’re sure it won’t be the last either. This is just the beginning. He’s a true star of this team already.
