“It would be difficult” – West Brom man not hopeful about Chelsea player’s future

After a breakout season in the Championship last time out, Conor Gallagher has stepped up to the Premier League this campaign and looked just as good.

We’re only a quarter of the way through the season and his future is already being talked about, and those around West Brom, where he’s having his second excellent season in a row, aren’t particularly confident about keeping him.

Kevin Philips, who starred for the Baggies up front for many years, said the following to West Brom News:

“Gallagher has proven he can play at this level so there’s no surprise that clubs are linked with him.

“If West Brom went down it would be very difficult to keep hold of the player.”

It’s hard to disagree – he’s already looking mid-table Premier League standard at the very least, and there’s no way the same Chelsea loan team who encouraged him to upgrade from Charlton to Swansea midway through last season will allow him to drop down a level again.

In fact, poor West Brom may find it hard to keep hold of him even if they stay up.

  1. Great player who is only going to get better. And the only thing “poor” about the Albion is the owner’s wallet. We couldn’t even afford Liam Gallagher. Boing Boing
