Chelsea have really got their season up and running now, scoring freely and keeping clean sheets regularly.
The last thing they needed was an international break, but that’s what they’ve got.
There are three players in particular that Blues fans will be sweating over in this fortnight.
First up is Thiago Silva. The 36 year old needs to be wrapped in cotton wool really, not sent to South American to play for Brazil. But that’s where he’s going, and it looks impossible that he will feature in next Saturday’s early kickoff after playing for his country earlier that week.
Second is Christian Pulisic. He’s not been able to get his season up and running yet thanks to injury, but for some reason he’s been included in the US squad for their games too. We really hope – for his sake as much as anything – that he doesn’t pick up a setback on international duty before his club season has even really got into gear.
Finally there’s N’Golo Kante. We’ve lost him several times over the years to problems picked up playing for France, and he’s racked up crazy minutes for Chelsea already this season.
Can’t Didier Deschamps give him a rest, just this once?
