Billy Gilmour set to play for Chelsea tonight

In just under three hours time, Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour could be about to play for the club again for the first time in four months.

The Scotland under-21 international is set to play for the Blues development squad tonight against Bristol Rovers in the Papa Johns Trophy at 6pm.

He has only played a bit for the Scotland under-21s in four months, but he was sent off in that game and his comeback was put on halt.

But this will be his first competitive game tonight since badly injuring his knee, according to The Athletic.

Gilmour was having a tremendous run of form before he got injured and he had just started to nail down a regular place in Frank Lampard’s starting line up.

He will be hoping to soon get back to that level again once he regains his full match fitness and finds that quality form again.
