Antonio Rudiger went straight into the first team as Frank Lampard’s top choice at centre back when returning from injury last season, but this season didn’t even make the bench for the first few matches of the season.
That lead to question marks about his future, and inevitably after using him last night against Krasnodar, Lampard was asked about what he made of his performance.
“I didn’t have doubts over Toni” the manager insisted when it came to his feelings about selecting the Germany international.
“His training and professionalism has been very clear from the very beginning since I’ve been here,” the manager went on to enthuse. It’s great to hear him keeping everyone onside like that.
