Timo Werner given coronavirus all-clear – but Lampard will be careful about wearing him out

Germany are training ahead of tonight’s game with Switzerland, with both Kai Havertz and Timo Werner in the squad.

There had been fears about Werner’s health after he was reported to have flu-like symptoms, and took a coronavirus test last week.

However the fact he’s training today shows he got the all clear, and Frank Lampard should have him available for this weekend’s fixtures.

The only question will be of fitness. Werner has started all of Chelsea’s league games this season, as well as featuring for Germany already in this international break.

If he plays serious minutes tonight, selecting him for a game on Saturday is going to be a big call for Lampard, who has yet to really get the best out of the former RB Leipzig forward.

It’s a similar story with Havertz, and a lot will come down to how many minutes they play tonight for their nation.
