Thiago Silva got off to a wobbly start in a Chelsea shirt with a mistake against West Brom, but ever since then he’s looked absolutely imperious.
The Brazil star wasn’t ready to play against Southampton last week after international duty, and the Blues suffered without him.
Since he returned for the Sevilla game on Tuesday we’ve had two clean sheets in a row however, and his stats today were superb, as you can see in the post embedded here:
Thiago Silva's game by numbers vs. Man Utd:
95 touches
94% pass accuracy
82 passes
6 clearances
3 recoveries
2 tackles made
2 interceptions
2 blocks
0 x dribbled past
0 fouls committed
0 goals concededClass is permanent. pic.twitter.com/ZsNfR1csaT

Even Jamie Carragher, working on the game for Sky, couldn’t resist Tweeting how impressed he was by the free transfer’s showing in the 0-0 draw, where nothing got past the 36 year old:
Thiago Silva has been fantastic! #MUNCHE

We’re fully in agreement. Silva, along with Edouard Mendy in goal, have made a huge difference to the solidity of this side, and if the rest of the team can raise their levels to match theirs, we’re on course for a great season.
