Chelsea have just finished the first half against Sevilla, and they’ve basically been outplayed.
The Spanish side were dominant for large periods of the game without threatening much, while Chelsea have had some dangerous moments despite not stringing together any decent attacking moves.
On Twitter, some were saying things were bad enough to require half time changes.
Some wanted Mason Mount off, as he was playing out of position and looked tired. Other said the yellow carded Jorginho should make way. There was a further strand of argument that Christian Pulisic looked not at his best after returning from injury at the weekend, and could be a candidate for replacement. A “minimum of one change” was what some demanded.
With Hakim Ziyech on the bench, it’s hard to imagine Lampard will hold off long. Tammy Abraham could get a call soon too.
You can see a selection of the social media reaction embedded below:
Pretty rough half. Mount and Pulisic struggling, probably because they’re playing out of position. Jorginho and Kante leaving far too much open space, worried about Jorgi on a yellow. Sevilla so much more physical, too. Would move Pulisic left and bring Ziyech/CHO on. #CFC

5 subs available, I’d make minimum 1 change at HT. I’d take Mount out, who’s being asked to play a position he isn’t & has a yellow, and put Ziyech in & move Pulisic to his natural LW.
And maybe Jorginho out for Kova because the former has made me nervous w/ some challenges.

And of course Jorginho has a yellow as well, so defensively I’m very nervous about that.

HT: Chelsea 0-0 Sevilla
Chelsea have created a bit but played quite cautiously and let their opponents have the ball. Thiago Silva and Zouma both made mistakes. Mendy looking dominant in goal. #CFC #UCL

HT Thoughts:
Plenty of them tactically/personnel wise. Nevertheless, typical #UCL first half really…
Review video after the game? 1 hour. Let me know.👇

Not a bad half? I think the only thing not bad about this half was the scoreline other than that Sevilla were brilliant.
And I agree, Sevilla isn't a bad team at all but we have the players to dominate them which we haven't done so far— Nouman (@nomifooty) October 20, 2020
Christian Pulisic a long way from his best in his first few performances since coming back from a hamstring injury. Him playing on the right might be part of it. Most of Chelsea's wide men prefer the left-hand side. #CFC #UCL #CHESEV
