“I love watching him play” – Mason Mount keen to be friends not enemies with England starlet

Mason Mount and Jack Grealish have been put into opposition unnecessarily when it comes to the England setup.

Mount was picked ahead of the Aston Villa player in England’s last game, and while the Chelsea man scored, there were tons of grumbles from fans about Grealish missing out.

The fact is that the two can play together, and one being included is nothing to do with the other being left out.

Mason was even asked about the false dichotomy in the England press conference today – and he responded in quotes picked up by Sky Sports.

“I love watching him play as well. He’s brilliant to be around. Obviously we all know what he can do, what a brilliant player he is,” Mount said in quotes picked up by Sky Sports.

“I get on very well with Jack. He’s a brilliant player and, yes, we always want to play together.”

We wanted Chelsea to sign Grealish this summer (before our major spree), and not to replace Mount. The fact that the latter runs so much actually complements the former’s incredible elegant skill on the ball.

The two could end up both being key men for the Three Lions in the long run.
