Given the influx of new signings at Chelsea this summer, you would have been forgiven for thinking that Jorginho was on his way out.
As it stands – perhaps because of a lack of good offers, he’s stuck around, and there are now reports that he may be offered a new contract – despite having constantly been linked with moves away.
AreaNapoli say that “first contacts” between the player and the club have already begun.
Jorginho arrived with Maurizio Sarri two years ago, and now has just 3 years left on his existing deal. This would be a standard time to begin re-negotiations, so there could be some truth to this.
However we still think the club would be willing to sell the Italy international if the right offer arrived, and regardless of whether he gets an extensions, he seems likely to be on the table in future windows.
However, with plenty of chances to shine this season, he can turn that status around over the next 9 months.
