Frank Lampard gives goalkeeper injury update as fans await return of first choice stopper

Chelsea conceded three times again today to surrender 2 points against Southampton.

It was immensely frustrating to watch, and while Kepa wasn’t to blame for all of it, he did contribute to the second goal.

He was only playing today because of Edouard Mendy’s injury, and fans were keen to get an update on the Senegal goalkeeper from their manager Frank Lampard after the game today.

There were some who thought that the stopper would be able to feature today, but they were clearly out by some margin. In fact, Lampard has said it could be another “one to two weeks” before the former Rennes player is back.

Given we play Sevilla on Tuesday night and then Manchester United next weekend, that’s a worrying thought.

Could we see a return to Willy Caballero on Tuesday night, meaning a third goalkeeper in as many games? We wouldn’t rule it out for one second.
