The Edouard Mendy fact that will excite Chelsea fans

Chelsea finally seem to have a goalkeeper they can put their trust in, one who is reliable and dominant in his box.

It has been nothing short of a nightmare for the clubs most expensive signing, Kepa Arrizabalaga.

After showing some early promise, Kepa has been nothing more than poor during the last couple of seasons, and despite the hope that he might come good, Chelsea gave in and signed Edouard Mendy this summer.

The 28-year old Senegalese international has already proven his worth in his short Chelsea career so far.

Petr Cech was the guy who admired and recommended Mendy, after scouting him at Cech’s former side, Rennes.

Now, Mendy has done something early in his Chelsea career that no goalkeeper has done since Cech.

As per The BBC, Mendy became the first Chelsea goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in his first two Premier League games for the club since Petr Cech in August 2004.

It’s almost as if it was written in the stars!
