Chelsea ‘only want their top targets’ suggesting another Declan Rice move is pending

One of the transfer sagas of this summer was Chelsea’s interest in signing Declan Rice from West Ham.

Whilst no official offer arrived, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea did speak to West Ham about Rice on a few occasions, including a last minute attempt to see if they would be willing to sell.

They of course got told no, but Chelsea are expected to go back in for the England international again in the winter transfer window.

Romano was speaking on his latest Here We Go Podcast, and spoke about Chelsea’s interest in Rice, and also new Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey.

Whilst he confirmed Chelsea’s interest in Partey, they were never in the race to sign him.

This is because Chelsea ‘only want their top targets’, says Romano, meaning that they prefer to wait and move back in for Rice again, rather than sign a second or third choice target.
